First, enchant and tailoring are the most common profession for Warlocks. Warlocks can be an expensive class because of all the potions required during regular leveling, and making your own armor can definitely help reduce the overall cost of leveling a Warlock. Because only cloth armor is worn, Tailoring becomes the most obvious choice as a profession.
A Warlock can create very nice pre-raid armor through Tailoring. However, the best aspect of becoming a tailor is that it allows players to create their own bags. Bags can be surprisingly expensive in the world of Azeroth, and it can really save some gold to be able to make your own. Even better, bags sell for huge profit in the Auction House. The best bag for a Warlock is the Abyssal Bag, which is a Soul bag that can hold up to 32 Soul Shards. Any player that levels a Warlock for long enough knows how frustrating carrying around Soul Shards can become.
Enchanting can strongly supplement this choice because a few good enchants can significantly improve a Warlocks PVP and PVE experience. Although all good players and classes use enchants, it is almost essential for a Warlock to use enchants as it becomes much more important in DPS classes. Disenchanting can be quite profitable and can turn useless junk into Auction House treasure. A player can disenchant many common items into essences, shards, and dust that they can then use to fund their enchanting.
At the same time, some player hold the view that Enchanting/tailoring is kickass for warlock in northrend, unless you come riding into town wearing a full set of tier gear from outland raid dungeons. The early frostweave items you get to make are superior to most quest rewards you’ll get until the mid-70s at least, particulary if you wear enough of them to keep the set bonuses.
As for enchanting, spellpower enchants that let you buff your gloves, bracers, rings and weapon are easy to acquire in northrend. No need to grind mobs or honor with some faction for hours and hours, you learn them straight from the trainer, and they’re pretty easy to make as well. You don’t need 8-10 large shards, just dust and essence, allowing you to re-chant your gear when you switch out a piece.
Enchanting doesn’t start to get really expensive until you reach past 420-ish, but all of the spellpower chants are below that level, so it’s not a problem. If you want to ease your problems leveling enchanting, make a beastmaster hunter that is skinner and leatherworker and harvest as much leather as you can. Turn everything into LW items, mail over to your warlock for pulverization.
